Panelists discussed the role of Iran and Syria in Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah. Iran created Hezbollah in 1982 to export its revolution, mobilize Lebanese Shiites, and develop terrorist attacks on Israel and its supporter, the United States. Since then, Iran has been providing the bulk of Hezbollah’s foreign support while Syria provided the rest, including a base of operations, training, and supply. The panelists responded to questions from members of the audience.
