Witnesses testified on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s human rights record since taking office on August 4, 2013. Cler Baheri, an Iranian-born member of the Baha’i community, spoke about the imprisonment and execution of her father due to his religion. Lawmakers also heard about the persecution of gay Iranians. The panelists urged Congress to make human rights part of ongoing talks with Iran. The also called for caution against thinking President Rouhani was a reformer. close
