Committee members continued the investigation into campaign fund-raising abuses in the last campaign. Ms. Heslin testified about CIA, Energy Department and Democratic National Committee pressure on her to approve access for Roger Tamraz to senior White House officials including the president. Mr. Tamraz was a businessman promoting an oil pipeline in central Asia. She said a person known as “Bob” from the CIA, about whom Don Fowler was also questioned, and Mr. Fowler, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, wanted her to change her mind about her concerns about Mr. Tamraz’s background.
