Committee members continued the investigation into campaign fund-raising abuses in the last campaign. Three persons who attended a White House “coffee” on June 18, 1996 testified about whether John Huang asked for contributions at the event, which would violate laws against fund-raising on government property. Mr. Soberano testified about a lunch he had with Huang in which Huang asked him to receive money from an unidentified source, contribute it to the Democratic National Committee, and keep 15 percent for his effort. close
