Senate Governmental Affairs Committee members heard testimony from Sandy Berger, National Security Advisor concerning White House security checks on several contributors who attended events at the White House. Sandy Berger admitted that White House officials did not always ask security personnel to provide background checks for visitors, but he stressed that this did not result in any political influence and that the White House then required checks on all such visitors. close
