Government officials, Internet company executives, and human rights advocates testified on the topic, “The Internet in China: A Tool for Freedom or Suppression.” Among the issues they addressed were the state of the information marketplace in China, state censorship of free expression, concessions made to the Chinese government for permission to provide Internet services in the country, and future business relations with China.
