Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood joined two panels of business and labor representatives to discuss creating jobs through infrastructure investment. They also talked about the state of the economy and a number of issues such as transportation programs, communications systems, federal spending levels, and industry regulation. They responded to questions from the audience.
The President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness had been holding listening sessions around the country since its creation in January 2011. Joining Secretary LaHood were top officials from At&T, Comcast, Southwest Airlines, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the AFL-CIO.
