Mr. Auletta talked about his book The Highwaymen, a book about communications businessmen and tycoons and what the future of the industry holds. He talked about the influence of people like Rupert Murdoch and the rise of giant communications companies all over the world but pointed out that a few years ago, Murdoch was on the brink of bankruptcy. Mr. Auletta said that technology is changing so rapidly that there is no way to guage what the public is going to want a few years from now and that heads of communications companies “wear a mask of certitude” to hide their apprehesion about the future. Following his prepared remarks, Mr. Auletta took questions from the audience.
