The Public Affairs Book Group discussed Ted Fishman’s book China, Inc.: How the Rise of the Next Superpower Challenges America and the World, published by Scribner. The book club, sponsored by the Politics and Prose Bookstore, is made up of Washington, D.C. area locals who meet regularly to discuss non-fiction books. The book examines China’s fast-growing economy and the ways in which the author believes that China’s economy is forcing other large countries to adapt to the changes. Mr. Fishman chronicles China’s economic change from the Cultural Revolution of Mao Tse-tung to their current position as a global leader in the production and manufacturing of many widely-used goods.
