Edward Luce talked about his book, In Spite of the Gods: The Strange Rise of Modern India, published by Doubleday. In this book Mr. Luce analyzed the social and economic climate in India. He described the country’s progress as spotty and detailed the region’s attempt to balance the traditions of the past with current modernization. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.
