John Pistole spoke about possible changes to screening procedures at airports, including increased pre-screening of passengers and the potential to lift the ban on liquids and gels in carry-on baggage. He also showed a 15-second FBI video of what would have happened if the “underwear bomber” had succeeded. This was part of an event marking the 10th anniversary of the Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The center was the first university research center funded by the Homeland Security Department. close
