Hal Bruno discussed issues surrounding the 1968 Democratic convention and Democratic leaders of that year. Senator McGovern participated by telephone from Mazula, Montana, at the beginning of the program. He was the Democratic presidential candidate in 1984. Topics included the overhaul of the rules for selecting presidential delegates opening up the political process to millions, the violence between police and anti-Vietnam War protesters, the absence of Robert Kennedy at the convention, and could the current election delegate issues mirror those of the 1968 convention. Hal Bruno attended the 1968 convention as the news editor for Newsweek. Later he was the political director for ABC News. Mr. Bruno responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
