Molly Ball talked about the “ground games” of the Obama and Romney campaigns around the country, and she responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. “Ground games” refer to candidates' field offices, campaign volunteers, and voter contacts. She discussed political campaigns use of “targeted” voter data, and compared the candidates' field offices. She said that Obama campaign offices were very standardized and “almost like a Starbucks or a McDonald’s, a franchise operation,” while Governor Romney’s offices were run by the Republican National Committee and tended to have more information on local candidates. close
