Tamar Jacoby, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, talked about what may lie ahead in the 109th Congress in regard to immigration. She summarized the pros and cons of immigration, saying that the two sides do not speak to each other and cannot agree even on how many immigrants enter the U.S. each year. She explained the complexity of the issue, such as along the border with Mexico where manpower and technology have been considerably increased, with very little result. She related many individual stories. After her presentation she answered audience members' questions. close
