In honor of a PEN conference organized by Norman Mailer 25 years ago, writers discussed how governments can work together across national boundaries, as writers do, to improve the world's troubles. Participants included students from Bard High School Early College. Authors also responded to comments from members of the audience.
"The Writer's Imagination and the Imagination of the State: Writers Respond to What's Gone Wrong and How to Fix Things", was part of the 2011 PEN World Voices Festival. This "Working Day" was held at the Desmond Tutu Center in New York City.
