Edwidge Danticat talked about her book Brother, I’m Dying, published by Knopf. The book tells the story of her uncle Joseph, a Baptist minister who took care of her as a child in Haiti. Joseph Danticat fled Haiti in 2004, at the age of 81, and came to the U.S. seeking political asylum. Upon arrival, he was imprisoned by U.S. Homeland Security and died while in custody. She read excerpts from the book and responded to questions from members of the audience.
