Senator Dick Durbin debated Republican challenger Steve Sauerberg. Craig Dellimore of WBBM and Melissa Hahn of IRN moderated. Knox College President Roger Taylor recounted that when Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas held their debate at Knox College a 150 years and 2 days previously, the pair had to clamber through a window to get to the podium.
