Mr. Auster, editor of I Thought My Father Was God, and Jacki Lyden, of National Public Radio, hosted a reading of fifteen of the stories included in the book. The book is an anthology of 180 stories selected from 4,000 Mr. Auster received from NPR listeners since the National Story Project began in October 1999. The only criteria were that the stories had to be short and true. During the event several of the authors and a few celebrity readers read stories from the anthology. The book is published by Henry Holt and Company. close
