Trevor Aaronson talked about his recent Mother Jones cover story on the large network of informants used by the FBI in its efforts to prevent another domestic terrorist attack. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. FBI informants identify disgruntled people living in the U.S. who express willingness to instigate an act of terrorism, and then provide them the means to carry out an attack. Mr. Aaronson argues that this method can sometimes be entrapment, and that many suspects would not have acted if not prodded by the FBI.
