The book describes the origins and history of World War II, from Hitler’s rise to power in 1933 to the surrender of the Japanese in 1945. The author said it includes interviews with participants, excerpts from actual letters written to and from American and German troops, and personal anecdotes from Holocaust survivors. He described the 21 activities included with the book that illustrate for youth how it felt to live during the period.
