Michael Hurley talked about the report issued during the week by the Bipartisan Policy Center, Jihadist Terrorism: A Threat Assessment. The report, which he co-authored, highlights potential threats toward the U.S. from al-Qaeia related groups. While the authors claim they are largely disorganized, they add that the “right set of circumstances in the unstable Middle East” could breathe new life into the network. It also found that the most imminent threat to the United States was from individuals who were radicalized over the Internet, often inspired by al-Qaida’s jihadist message. He responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. close
