Alisha Coleman-Jensen and Caroline Ratcliffe talked about access to food in the U.S. and food security issues, and they responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Households that are “food insecure” are unable to provide adequate food for one or more household members due to a lack of resources. Topics include trends in food insecurity, measurement of food security, how poverty and unemployment affect access to food, government programs and policies aimed at bolstering food security, and social ramifications of food insecurity.
