Representative Hoyer Town Hall Meeting

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer held a town hall meeting on health care reform at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Maryland. He spoke to a large crowd about proposals before Congress and the time table for consideration after the summer recess. He was joined by a panel of constituents who also shared their experience and concerns about health care. He also answered questions from the audience, many of which focused on tort reform. He responded that Congress will likely consider caps on medical lawsuits, yet cautioned that capping non-economic damages could mean some victims of medical malpractice “may not get anything of substantial value through the years.” close
