Inside the House: Former Members Reveal How Congress Really Works, published jointly by the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress and University Press of America, consists of a series of essays on various aspects of the House of Representatives. In this event, moderated by co-editor Lou Frey, several of the contributors to the book discussed their contributions as well as their experiences of serving in Congress. They talked about subjects such as the impact of holding public office on one’s family life, and the effect of constituent mail on a representative’s decision-making process. close
