Ron Christie talked about his book Black in the White House: Life Inside George W. Bush’s West Wing, published by Nelson Current. He described the policymaking processes in the White House at the highest level, some of which he witnessed firsthand. He also discussed the ways in which the administration deals with the issues surrounding blacks and other minority groups in the United States. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions.


Ron Christie was appointed in 2002 to serve as special assistant to President George W. Bush for USA Freedom Corps and was acting director of that executive office when he left in March 2004. Prior to serving as special assistant to the president, Christie also served as deputy assistant to Vice President Cheney for domestic policy, where he advised the vice president on policy initiatives in health care, budget, tax, and other policy areas from January 2001 to March 2002.
