Republican Representative Wayne Gilchrest and Democratic Representative Tom McMillen, incumbent representatives running for the House seat in the newly drawn first congressional district in Maryland, participated in a televised debate. Following redistricting after the 1990 census two seated congress people ran for the the same seat. In the debate the two candidates responded to questions from new anchor Jeff Salkin who acted as moderator. They also asked questions of each other while seated in chairs in the television studio. Maryland Public Television produced the program and the League of Woman voters sponsored it. close
