Conservative Republican congressmen spoke to the press about issues facing the 113th Congress, including raising the debt ceiling and deficit reduction. Representatives Schweikert, Labrador, Duncan, and Massie gave tentative support for a Republican plan that would suspend the debt ceiling until May 19, 2013, but calls for a Senate budget by April and a balanced budget in 10 years. Representative Schweikert said they would trust the Republican leadership but warned that if they fail, “there would be hell to pay.” Other topics included American perceptions of the Republican Party, immigration reform, and tax reform.
