Retired Admiral Steinman, one of the highest-ranking openly gay military officials to speak out against the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, talked about efforts to end the policy that discriminates against gay and lesbian service members. He also talked about his own experiences of hiding his homosexuality as he rose in the ranks of the Coast Guard. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.
