Female senators participated in a breakfast discussion moderated by Ms. Cokie Roberts. They talked about the history of women in the Senate and the book Nine and Counting: The Women of the Senate issued in 2000. A focus of discussion was the bipartisanship among the women. Other topics included the number of female senators, support among the women, being working mothers, and career tracks for female politicians. They responded to questions from members of the audience.
“Remember the Ladies: How the Women Are Changing the Senate” was a program in observance of Women’s History Month held by the U.S. Capitol Historical Society at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in 325 Russell Senate Office Building.
