A panel discussion titled “Excavating Underground Seattle: How Did We Get Here?” was moderated by Mr. Leonard Garfield. Discussion ranged from the frontier days to the dot-com years. One focus was the balance between staid respectability and often hidden extravagance and scandal. Hidden stories were explored and famous figures re-examined. After the authors' presentations, the panelists answered questions from members of the audience.
