Richard Goldstein recounts the role that New York City played in the American war effort during World War II.  From shipbuilding in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the departure of soldiers for war from New York Harbor to its international prominence following the war, exemplified by the United Nations vote to place their permanent headquarters in Manhattan.  Richard Goldstein discussed his book at the New York Public Library in New York City.
