Community activists told personal stories and spoke about their concerns. Then they posed questions to Democratic presidential candidates. Each candidate appeared separately. Senator Clinton appeared by remote satellite from New Hampshire due to the weather.

The Heartland Presidential Forum was held in Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center in downtown Des Moines. It was sponsored by over twenty community-based organizations with the Campaign for Community Values. close
