The Senate Finance Committee held its eighth and final meeting on its health care bill. Debate focused on Congressional Budget Office scoring of the legislation, the failure of the committee to agree to a public insurance option in the final version of the bill, and a report by the insurance industry which forecast raised insurance premiums under the plan.
The committee reported out the bill favorably after a 14-9 vote with only Maine Republican Senator Olympia Snowe crossing party lines to support it.
