Ms. Golden talked about the Head Start program, its funding and a recent GAO report on the program. When she was commissioner for Children, Youth, and Families and then assistant secretary for Children and Families for the Department of Health and Human Services she was responsible for the Head Start program. The previous Tuesday, Ms. Golden testified before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce as well as the Education and Early Childhood Development Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. She also responded to telephone calls, faxes and e-mail from viewers.
