The guests discussed the Proposition 13 California property tax law based on a property’s value when purchased and not on current value which has led to a wide variety of tax laws. The discussion is based upon Nordlinger v. Hahn, in which the Supreme Court is being asked to rule on whether California’s property tax system violates equal protection rights.
