In this case, Justices will decide whether Utah or the regional Indian tribe has primary authority over reservation land, as well as the right to determine the use of that land. Outside the courthouse, Ms. Graham stated that the demographics of the area is important in determining the use of the land and that the state of Utah should have primary authority. Senator Bennett declined to take a position and said that both sides were presented well. Rep. Shepherd stated that the process was very interesting to watch. Mr. Dasterf said that as long as there is a speedy resolution, Duchesne County can return to normal operation. Representing Indian interests, Mr. Seneca felt both sides had presented their sides well, but was optimistic about success.
