A hearing was held on the nomination of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to be secretary of Health and Human Services in the Obama administration. In his testimony he spoke about the need for bipartisan health care reform. He said he was struck by the high costs of health care, concerned by public apprehension about heath care, and that he was committed to avoid ideological factors in policy-making decisions.
