President Clinton and members of Sane Alternatives to the Firearm Epidemic (SAFE) spoke about gun safety and efforts to require child safety locks on all new guns. President Clinton said that gun safety was the only area of national life in which the government did not impose regulations aimed at improving child safety. He also urged the audience to get signatures on a statewide petition for a ballot referendum. His speech was briefly interrupted by a heckler.
