Return to Greatness

Alan Wolfe talked about his book Return to Greatness: How America Lost Its Sense of Purpose and What It Needs to Do to Recover It, published by Princeton University Press. He examined America’s focus on morality and purity and how it had caused Americans to lose sight of what he calls a grander vision. Mr. Wolfe said that the idea of a long-term vision for America was a concept shared by Alexander Hamilton, Franklin Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The author said that both liberal and conservative leadership were guilty of retarding America’s potential for national strength and unity, by focusing instead on divisive political issues causing internal strife. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
