The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board released its report on the collection of electronic communications as outlined under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which gives the National Security Agency (NSA) access to certain international communications.

The panel talked about their recommendations for strengthening privacy safeguards as well as the value and effectiveness of the surveillance program for government counterterrorism efforts.

The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, whose members are appointed by the president, was created by recommendation of the 9/11 Commission. close
