Former Vice President Al Gore and Senator John Warner testified on the American Clean Energy Security Act of 2009. The proposed legislation would cut carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by 20 percent by 2020 and by 83 percent by mid-century. It further requires that utilities produce one quarter of their electricity from renewable sources by 2025. In his remarks, Vice President Gore called the bill “a moral imperative” as important as civil rights legislation of the 1960s. close
