Mr. Godwin returned to his native Zimbabwe immediately following the first election lost by Robert Mugabe. Instead of relinquishing power after 30 years, President Mugabe unleashed what Mr. Godwin calls a reign of terror, brutally suppressing his political opposition in an attempt to retain control. Mr. Godwin discussed this period, named The Fear by natives, with the president of TransAfrica Forum, Nicole Lee.
