Democratic Party leaders talked about the Democratic Party agenda for U.S. foreign policy and their reactions to President Bush’s speech on global terrorism. They said that the Bush administration had been trying to exploit national security issues for partisan gain and that speeches could not negate the facts that terrorists and foreign powers had been emboldened by U.S. policies, the U.S. military had been stretched to operational limits, and that military operations in Iraq had been counterproductive. They also talked about a report by the Third Way organization on Bush administration national security failures. Following their remarks they answered questions from reporters.
