Ken Burns was the featured speaker at an annual observation at Soldiers' National Cemetery of President Abraham Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address.” The ceremony marked the 145th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address on November 19, 1863. Participants spoke about Lincoln’s presidency, sacrifices made by Americans for the ideal of union, and the enduring legacy of the battlefield speech.

The ceremonies included a portrayal of President Abraham Lincoln delivering his address, invocations, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” sung by Mr. Hill, and taps played by Mr. Merrifield. Mr. Sloan presented funds to the Pennsylvania Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. Mr. Burnhart introduced the design of the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Silver Dollar. Ms. Riggs and Mr. Kuhn made presentations to Mr. Burns. close
