Michael Gerson discussed his job as speechwriter for President George W. Bush and the role his religion played in the speeches he wrote. He then worked as a policy adviser for President Bush. His special interest is faith-based initiatives. He also talked about a book he is writing on the future of conservatism. He now is a columnist for the Washington Post Writers Group. He was a journalist for U.S. News & World Report before joining President Bush’s first presidential campaign. Prior to that he had been a speechwriter for Senator Dan Coats and also for Senator Robert Dole during his presidential campaign.
