Food and Drug Administration (FDA) official Michael Landa testified at a hearing on the regulation of genetically modified food ingredients. In the second panel, advocates and opponents of government requiring labeling of engineered products discussed such issues as a national standard for modified food and whether such products should be labeled as “natural.” Mr. Landa told committee members that genetically engineered foods are “as safe as their conventional counterparts.” close
