Attorney General Alberto Gonzales spoke about “Respecting the Constitution in Judicial Debates and Judicial Nominees.” He discussed the impact of lifelong appointments to the lower courts, the nominations of John Roberts and Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court, and the effects of technology on changing the confirmation process. He also spoke about the credentials of Ms. Miers as a suitable nominee to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
