Garry Wills, an adjunct professor of history at Northwestern University, talked about his life and work and responded to telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail from viewers.

Professor Wills is the author of numerous works on American history, politics, culture, and religion. His books include: Chesterton, Politics and Catholic Freedom, Jack Ruby, The Second Civil War, Nixon Agonistes, Inventing America, Explaining America, Confessions of a Conservative, The Kennedy Imprisonment, Reagan’s America and John Wayne’s America. He won the National Book Critics Circle Award in 1992 and Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America. Professor Wills' latest book is Negro President: Jefferson and the Slave Power. close
