Sara Mead talked about achievement gaps in education. She discussed her study, “The Truth About Boys and Girls” and what the federal government should be doing to help disadvantaged students. The study found that there is no real achievement gap between the genders for middle-class students. Boys are not falling behind, girls are just doing better. However, lower-income boys of color tend to fare worse than their female counterparts. She responded to audience telephone calls and electronic mail. close
