Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter talked about the future of the Pentagon as it shifts from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to a new focus on the Asia Pacific Theater, cyber security, and counter terrorism during a time of budget reductions. Topics included the impact of the recent National Security Agency (NSA) leaks. He was interviewed by David Sanger and responded to questions from members of the audience.

“Doing More with Less - Simply an Oxymoron or Also an Imperative: Refashioning Today’s Pentagon to Fight the Wars of the Future” was a program of the third annual Aspen Security Forum, held by the Aspen Institute’s Homeland Security Program in partnership with The New York Times and CNN’s “Security Clearance” website. close
